Safety on board fishing vessels: Merinov demonstrates possible improvements

Merinov was on tour in the Islands last week to present the results of several years of research on possible adjustments to improve crew safety on board fishing vessels.

Project manager Colin Gauthier-Barrette explains that to do so, the team built a replica of a boat deck on a trailer to demonstrate the proposed methods.

He details some of the most viable modifications.

He points out that these are the suggestions from the fishermen that were implemented and felt a real interest from the crews during the dockside demonstration of the trailer.

After visiting the ports of Grande-Entrée, Grosse-Île, Cap-aux-Meules, L’Étang-du-Nord and Havre-aux-Maisons, Colin Gauthier-Barrette indicates that the tour will continue in the Gaspé Coast.
