Visitors find Magdalen Islanders welcoming, according to an ATR survey

The end-of-stay survey sent to summer visitors by Tourisme Îles de la Madeleine reveals a high satisfaction rate with the welcome received from Magdalen Islanders.

The figures show that 95% of respondents say they are satisfied or very satisfied with the welcome they received, and the likelihood of them recommending a stay in the archipelago is 82%.

The tourism association chose to release preliminary data from the survey mid-season to inform the population about the positive aspects of the industry, according to its president Jacky Poirier.

He adds that the organization also plans to survey residents to find out their happiness and comfort level with tourism.

When asked about the fears expressed by some Magdalen Islanders regarding the capacity of local businesses, he indicated that he had received encouraging feedback from several Island restaurant owners.

Among other preliminary statistics revealed to date, we learn that accommodation and agri-tourism also obtain high satisfaction rates exceeding 80%.

In addition, more than 7 out of 10 visitors say they intend to return to the archipelago.

According to Mr. Poirier, approximately one hundred people had responded to the survey at the time of the release of these data, the majority of whom were 55 years of age or older.
