106 scholarships totaling $211,750 awarded to students from the Islands
The Madeli-Aide for Education Foundation is distributing 106 scholarships to Madelinot students for the year 2022-2023.
The total amount awarded is just under $212,000, setting a new record.
Audrey-Ann Boudreau, a student in the Bachelor of Architecture program at the Université de Montréal, was awarded the $10,000 Jean Lapierre Excellence Scholarship.
Denis Richard, head of the programs team, points out that the categories were redesigned during the year.
During the evening held Monday at the Maison de la culture, 8 professional level scholarships and 33 college level scholarships of $1500 each were awarded.
For the university level, 43 students obtained the support of the Foundation to the tune of 2000 dollars as well as 13 others, who received the scholarships of the Propulsion level worth 3000 dollars.
Jocelyn Aucoin, President of Madeli-Aide, said he was delighted to see the pride in the eyes of the young people and parents as the evening was held at full capacity for the first time in two years.
The Foundation also recognized the perseverance and tenacity of three young people with the Diane Arsenault Memorial Bursary.
Three students received $4,000 as part of the Return to the Islands bursary, which was established last year to support students who plan to return to the islands after completing their studies.
