The Centre de service scolaire des Îles is meeting departmental targets for a majority of the indicators included in the Commitment to Success Plan, which expires in 2023.

According to data from the annual report presented to board members on Monday, the proportion of high school students with a diploma or qualification after seven years stands at 84.8 percent, three-tenths of a percentage point above the target.

Measured at 13 points in 2017-2018, the achievement gap between boys and girls stands at 9.3 points, a decline from the previous three years but an overall improvement over time.

This improvement can also be seen in the gap between regular students and those with disabilities or learning difficulties.

Satisfied with the results, the director of the CSSÎ, Brigitte Aucoin, maintains that improving success requires a targeted and adapted approach as well as the consolidation of the organizational culture and partnerships.

In addition, a standardization of building condition assessment methodology has resulted in the downgrading of all schools in the archipelago, which may allow them to qualify for funding for renovations.

Finally, Brigitte Aucoin praised the results of Secondary 5 students in the single French test, as the archipelago avoided the statistical decline observed throughout Quebec since the pandemic, according to data revealed in the newspaper La Presse.
