Training to reduce aggressive interactions in retail settings
At the dawn of the tourist season, the Table de concertation sur la violence des Îles offered this week a dozen workshops aimed at the prevention and neutralization of aggressive behaviour by customers in the archipelago’s businesses.
In all, nearly 100 workers were able to receive the 90-minute training given by human resources specialists Sophie-Anne Girardin and Philippe-Simon Laplante.
Antonin Valiquette, general manager of the Chamber of Commerce and a partner in this initiative, explains where the idea for the project came from.
Geneviève Joyal, Continuing Education Advisor for the Collegia Group, says she hopes the benefits of this training will have a positive impact on learners beyond their professional duties.
According to Valiquette, many positive comments were made by participants.
He is therefore considering the possibility of expanding the approach, either by adding new cohorts, by continuing the training offered or by creating co-development groups.
By mid-June, an awareness poster will also be made available to businesses in the archipelago that wish to equip their employees to deal with potential conflict situations with clients.
