A report from the Institut national de santé publique du Québec suggests that COVID-19 is losing momentum in the region.

The report shows 30 new confirmed cases since August 28, about a third of last week’s total.

Hospitalizations related to the virus continue to fluctuate, waltzing between about 20 and 30 bedridden individuals, all outside of intensive care.

Fewer than five patients are currently at the CISSS des Îles as a result of the disease, according to government data.

However, the number of screening tests performed has dropped since the beginning of the month, as has the percentage of positivity, which may only show a portion of the actual cases.

To date, a total of 539 coronavirus infections have been reported in the Islands, making the archipelago the 2nd most affected territory by COVID-19 in the region in terms of rate per 100,000 inhabitants.
