$176,215 for Opération Enfant Soleil aux Îles, another record

Îles de la Madeleine

Opération Enfant Soleil raised a record amount of $176,215 in the Islands this year.

More than $26,000 was added to the telethon fund, which was already the highest amount raised in the territory.

Hélène Decoste, the local coordinator of the event, marvels at the generosity of the participants who, year after year, are there to help.

She explains that additional donations were recorded after the telethon, thanks to fundraising activities that continued over time, such as the cycling trip of former clerk Jean-Yves Lebreux with Mario Grondin.

Mrs. Decoste reminds us that the total amount raised adds up to the national total, of which 13% is redistributed to the health care institutions that submit requests.

She underlines that the Magdalen Islands organizations have always had positive answers for the purchase of equipment.

She calculates that over the years, more than 764 000 dollars have been donated to the CISSS des Îles thanks to Opération Enfant Soleil.
