Entry Island: monthly visits by the councilor well received by residents
Residents of Entry Island welcome the monthly visits of their new municipal councilor, Georges Painchaud.
This is what emerged from a vox-pop conducted last Saturday in the small English-speaking community, when around ten people came to the multifunctional centre to meet with him.
They believe that his coming can make a difference for them, and hope that this will allow them to be heard by the municipal council.
Georges Painchaud had promised to visit them at least once a month, when he was elected last September.
Over time, he sees that citizens are opening up to him and that a relationship of trust is being built.
During his last visit, the councilor for Cap-aux-Meules and Île d’Entrée expressed his intention to set up revitalization and leisure committees, inviting those present to get involved.
He hopes it will allow for better collaboration with them.
For its part, the Municipalité des Îles intends to tackle one of the major issues raised for several years by residents of Entry Island, namely access to public toilets for visitors.
The municipal budget adopted on Tuesday evening for the year 2025 provides a financial reserve for new sanitary facilities which would be located near the port.
Entry Islanders hope that road repair work will also be carried out as soon as possible, in order to facilitate traffic on their island and limit dust clouds.
