City Council: Eco-district project moving forward and Food Trucks authorized

Îles de la Madeleine

The eco-district project around the former Marguerite d’Youville school in Cap-aux-Meules remains in the sights of municipal officials.

It will be the subject of a request for financial assistance to the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing.

The mayor of the Municipality of Les Îles, Jonathan Lapierre, specifies that the firm Stratégies immobilières LGP will be awarded a contract to accompany the project.

The members of the council have also moved forward with files related to the Waste Management Center

A call for tenders will soon be launched to ensure that the septic tank sludge treatment equipment is brought up to standard, since the equipment currently in place dates back to 2001.

The Maritime Community is also pursuing its efforts to get rid of the waste that has accumulated on the site since the incinerator closed in 2008.

The Quebec consulting firm Stratzer will be given the mandate to prepare the tender documents in compliance with environmental standards.

In Grande-Entrée, the construction project of a new fish tank on chemin des Fumoirs by the company Pêcheries SBL is subject to adjustments and will soon be the subject of a register with the citizens of the sector.

Furthermore, the by-law authorizing food trucks on the territory of the Municipality of the Islands has been formally adopted.
