Intoxications: the SQ investigates a party involving several young people

Îles de la Madeleine

The Sûreté du Québec is currently conducting an investigation in connection with events that occurred on December 23 during a party attended by several young people.

According to information from the newsroom, officers intervened at the end-of-term party organized by the Campus des Iles Student Association at Paradis Plein air following a call for cases of intoxication.

Sergeant Claude Doiron mentions that police officers met and questioned several witnesses at the scene.

He indicated that information was received that people were intoxicated by a substance other than alcohol, possibly GHB, which triggered the investigation process that is currently underway.

Representatives of the student association confirm that measures were in place for the event, including the presence of a security guard and the Festive Team, which raises awareness among youth while providing a supportive environment.

The SQ’s communications department stresses that for the moment, there is no evidence that any individuals were drugged against their will during the evening and that no one was abused in any way.
