Provincial election: Joel Arseneau is the first confirmed candidate in the Islands

Îles de la Madeleine

Joël Arseneau, MNA for the Islands at the National Assembly, is officially nominated as a candidate for the Parti Québécois for the October 3rd election.

Proud of his record, the representative of the archipelago in the Blue Room since 2018 presented himself before fifty activists of his political party gathered Sunday at Paradis Plein Air.

Joel Arseneau said he was excited and enthusiastic about the approach of a new election cycle, and offered a response tinged with irony when asked about the statements of Premier François Legault, who said he was determined to take the riding during his most recent visit to the Islands.

The event took place in the presence of the leader of the Bloc Québécois, Yves-François Blanchet, the federal MP for Beauport-Côte-de-Beaupré-Île d’Orléans-Charlevoix, Caroline Desbiens, as well as the president of the PQ’s National Youth Committee, Marie-Laurence Desgagné.

The latter states that young activists are very present within the party’s authorities and in the field, but stresses the challenge of reaching her parents’ generation, which has turned its back on the Parti Québécois.

First confirmed candidate in the Islands for the elections, Joël Arseneau mentions that the October poll will be, according to him, an examination of the values defended by the political parties and that he intends to put forward his party’s own social project.

The elected representatives of the Bloc Québécois have indicated that they will take advantage of their provincial tour to promote Quebec sovereignty.
