CHSLD Plaisance: a salary catch-up demanded
Employees of the CHSLD Plaisance des Îles demonstrated a demand better pay conditions.
They claim that the Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, has not kept his promise to adjust their salaries to a scale equivalent to that of their colleagues in the public sector.
Although Résidence Plaisance is a private organization, the services offered in the CHSLD section are administered according to national standards that are the same in all institutions.
However, the salary adjustments that were applied to employees in the public sector as of November 2021 were not taken into account for employees of private CHSLDs that are not under contract.
The president of the board of directors of Résidence Plaisance des Îles, Louis Fournier, says he understands and supports the protesters’ demands.
According to him, a break in service could affect the 65 people housed in the CHSLD if the Department takes too long to finance a salary catch-up.
The MNA for the Islands, Joël Arseneau, also supports the workers in their demands.
During an exchange with Minister Dubé, he said he was disappointed by the lack of communication from his department in the CHSLD Plaisance file.
Minister Dubé did not indicate that he has a timeline for resolving this situation.
