Lobster fishery: dockside price still above $8/lb, catches down slightly

For the second week of the 2022 season, Island lobster fishers receive a dockside price of $8.56/lb.

At this time last year, fishers received $7.74/lb. per pound, which was already considered a high landed price at that time.

This is also a 30% increase over 2019.

The Islands Lobster Fishing Board reports that just over 1,924,000 pounds were caught, about 222,000 pounds less than the previous week.

However, the volume of catches registered a substantial jump of 43% compared to the same period in 2021.
