MNA Arseneau awards Islanders with the National Assembly Medal
Four Madelinots received a medal from the National Assembly from the hands of Joël Arseneau, MNA for the Islands, on Sunday.
The director of Entraide communautaire, Carmel Lapierre, was rewarded for her 17 years at the head of the organization and her humanistic values, which she welcomes with great humility.
The Suroît group was also awarded by MNA Arseneau, who wanted to highlight the musicians’ nearly half-century-long career, as well as their music, which is well rooted in local traditions and roots. Félix Leblanc and Simon-Charles Cyr testify to the importance of the transmission between the members of the group and the pleasure of seeing it last over time.
Céline Lafrance, a New Magdalenian, was awarded the medal for her innumerable involvements in various cultural projects in the Islands, whether on the radio, in festivals or through her literary works. She says she is deeply touched to be recognized by her adopted community.
Finally, Éloi Cummings completes the fourth of the recipients for reaching the finals of Star Académie 2022, winning the hearts of the public and contributing to making the Islands known during prime time television. He thanks the population for having followed him throughout the adventure and is delighted to receive the medal at his age.
The award recognizes the commitment of the islanders to their community and their contribution to the development and influence of the archipelago.
