Ré-Utîles temporarily closes its doors
The lack of manpower forces the temporary closure of the Ressourcerie as well as the Matériauthèque de Ré-Utîles.
The reception of donations at the two outlets will also be on pause during this period, adds co-director Mylaine St-Onge.
The situation had become untenable, she points out, as the team now has only three full-time employees.
The doors to the facility will remain closed for at least three weeks to restructure and reorganize services.
Co-director Anaïs Giard announces that for the summer, the Ressourcerie will move to the Matériauthèque premises, which will allow the activities to be maintained and the staff to be gathered in one place.
The Board of Directors will conduct a status report at the end of the summer season to determine the next steps.
The sale of the building that houses the Ressourcerie is out of the question at this point, says Ms. Giard.
Moreover, the directors of Ré-Utîles implore the clientele to avoid making « wild donations », that is to say to leave boxes, bags or materials outside the installations during the temporary closing. Since the items will be at the mercy of the weather, they will be unsellable when the premises reopen.
