5.7M from Canada Economic Development for 8 local projects

Canada Economic Development is awarding financial assistance totalling nearly $5.7 million to eight organizations in the Islands.

The Centre Alfred-Gallant is receiving $500,000 for the construction of a sanitary block and the renovation of buildings, some of which were in need of some love, says board president Guy Chevarie.

Two loans of approximately $1.4 million went to the Coopérative des Pêcheurs de Cap Dauphin and to Homard du Cap des Îles to increase their storage and warehousing capacity.

Solutions Distributions IM also obtained a loan, this time of $100,000, for the creation of an inventory management interface using artificial intelligence, says its general manager, Guy Harvie.

The Maison des jeunes will be moving forward with its project to develop the outdoor areas of the establishment thanks to an amount of $35,000, says its director Nadine Lapierre.

Finally, Alcyon sel de mer benefits from a support for the start-up of their business while the request for a grant of 750 000 dollars sent by the Municipality of the Islands was approved.

The Minister of Sports and responsible for Canada Economic Development, Pascale St-Onge, visited the archipelago at the beginning of last week to make the announcements.
