After 11 years of writing articles, Le Radar editor Adèle Arseneau is hanging up her pen.

It was simply time to start a new chapter, she explains.

She started as a freelancer in 2011 and officially became a journalist a year later, but it was in 2014 that she was promoted to editor-in-chief.

She considers herself privileged to have assisted and participated in the transformation of a pillar of the Magdalen Islands media ecosystem.

When asked about the events and files that have marked her career, she names the oil spill in the port of Cap-aux-Meules in 2014, a case that had raised an outcry in the community.

Her journalistic duties have certainly given her access to the backstage of the Islands’ routine, but also to explore the environment in all its facets, she emphasizes.

She says that while meeting with ministers is always a thrill, it’s the opportunity to give a voice to people who don’t have a platform and to tell human stories that is her favourite part of the job.

Arseneau reflects on the sense of pride she feels as her time at Radar comes to an end.

She will now take up the position of communications manager at the CISSS des Îles.

For the time being, journalist Dominique Jutras is taking over as interim editor-in-chief.
