Gaspésie-les Îles: the first baby of 2023 is from the Islands
The first baby born in the region in 2023 was born in the Islands.
Pier-Martin Bourgeois and Marie-Pier Déraspe welcomed little Laurent on January 1st.
The arrival of the new addition to the family went very well and starts the year in strength, he says.
Laurent is the younger brother of Rafael, who is about a year and a half old and was born during the pandemic, Bourgeois says.
The births occurred in very different contexts, he points out, noting that the COVID-19 measures were rather limiting, for example, in relation to hospital visits.
Going home has also been much easier with the newborn this year due to the lifting of health restrictions, which also makes it easier for relatives to visit their home in L’Étang-du-Nord.
