CTMA announces that it will soon adopt a sustainable development plan.

The process, conducted with the support of the Chair in Eco-Consulting at the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi (UQAC), will be divided into two stages.

First, the actions already taken that meet the objectives of sustainable development will be listed, and then new measures will be implemented to improve the cooperative’s intervention.

According to Emmanuel Aucoin, CTMA’s general manager, the time is right to launch this process.

For the occasion, the director of the UQAC chair, Claude Villeneuve, was in the Islands to present the different steps of the strategy set up with CTMA.

He explained that this is the first time he has accompanied a company in the maritime sector in the development of a sustainable development plan.

The company’s goal is to align itself with the United Nations 2030 Agenda’s harmonized strategy, which « aims to promote shared prosperity, environmental sustainability and progress towards sustainable development that leaves no one behind. »

A committee of CTMA staff and board members has been formed to ensure the success of the project, while a committee of community organizations will be convened in the fall to gather community vision and ideas.
