More patients, but less patience in the ER
Faced with increased traffic in the emergency room, the CISSS des Îles is asking the population to be patient.
The beginning of the tourist season combined with the lull in the pandemic could explain the increase in attendance, according to Judith Arseneault, Assistant Director of Nursing, Physical Health and AHS.
She assures us that the hospital’s capacity is in no way affected by the situation, but points out that the increased waiting time in the emergency room is exacerbating tensions.
Ms. Arseneault reminds everyone that pharmacists, family physicians and 811 resources are still available to answer non-urgent health questions or problems.
In addition, she urges CISSS users to pay close attention to the health measures in place due to an influenza outbreak in the critical care unit.
Masks must be worn at all times in hospitals, CHSLDs, CLSCs and within the walls of medical clinics.
