The Caisse Desjardins de Havre-aux-Maisons continues to grow

Îles de la Madeleine

The Caisse Desjardins de Havre-aux-Maisons has recorded an increase in its business volume of nearly 15% for the year 2021.

This increase is reflected in the surplus earnings, which reached $1.5 million, an increase of approximately 103% compared to the previous year.

The amounts paid out in member dividends amounted to $215,463, which is $36,000 more than last year.

Francis Simard, Caisse Manager, notes that savings by individuals and businesses have increased.

Mortgage lending also increased by about 12%, which, coupled with savings, is a testament to the strength of the real estate market and the broader economy of the Islands.

Simard also anticipates that recent and upcoming policy rate hikes may slow growth by increasing pressure on households, but should help keep inflation in check.

For the year 2021, the Community Development Fund’s investments total $59,600 while the fund’s annual contribution remains at $80,000.

Finally, Mr. Simard highlighted the awarding of 14 Fondation Desjardins bursaries to student members and praised the involvement of young people in their studies.
