The Héma-Québec blood drive held in the Islands last week reached its objective of 400 blood donations.

In the end, 399 people participated in the two-day event.

Martine Caza, Héma-Québec’s Director of Communications, said she was very pleased with the participation of Magdalen Islanders, which she felt met the organization’s expectations.

For example, she explains that in Quebec, to meet the needs, approximately 1,000 donations are required on a daily basis, so the Islands are doing well.

Furthermore, Héma-Québec specifies that the appointment-based formula seems to be here to stay, although the organization says it is open to eventually allowing spontaneous visits again.
